Coconut is highly nutritious and rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. It is classified as a “functional food” because it provides many health benefits beyond its nutritional content. Coconut oil is of special interest because it possesses healing properties far beyond that of any other dietary oil and is extensively used in traditional medicine among Asian and Pacific populations. Coconut oil, water and milk is used to treat a wide variety of health problems including the following: abscesses, asthma, baldness, bronchitis, bruises, burns, colds, constipation, cough, dropsy, dysentery, earache, fever, flu, gingivitis, gonorrhea, irregular or painful menstruation, jaundice, kidney stones, lice, malnutrition, nausea, rash, scabies, scurvy, skin infections, sore throat, swelling, syphilis, toothache, tuberculosis, tumors, typhoid, ulcers, upset stomach, weakness, and wounds. Coconut oil, water and milk in one form or another supports a wide range of health benefits, such as it is a great source of quick energy and endurance, enhancing physical and athletic performance. It also can improve digestion and absorption of other nutrients including vitamins, minerals, and amino acids.

This is only a few of the many great things that coconuts offer to the body. I try to use only coconut oil when I’m cooking then I like to add coconut meat and water to all my smoothies. I also try to use coconut water or milk with adding protein powder to my pre / post workout shakes. When buying any coconut drink or oil make sure you are getting the purest forms. Now a days I’m seeing so many different drinks with added crap to it so it tastes better. These are not the ones to buy. Don’t fall for this- make sure you get the 100 percent natural drink with no added sugars etc. When buying coconut oil make sure it is 100 percent organic. We like the Tropical Traditions oil pictured above. ¬†Otherwise, my first choice is getting the real deal coconut that gives me the water and the meat.

So with all this being said start adding coconut to your daily nutrition plan and start feeling the benefits.
